Which is harder and why, switching from Marine Corps Reserves to AD Army or to AD Marine Corps?

I want to go active duty and I remember at MCT the reservist liaison told us we can switch branches if we want and I hear some marines saying that it’s not easy to go from marine reserve to marine active but a little bit easier just to switch branches any one with experience on this matter can you explain why is it or isn’t?

Have you spoken to a Recruiter? I would say that is the first step. Decide what you want you want to do and where/how you want and then go speak to the respective recruiter.

Yes I’ve spoken to a recruiter she gave me a DD368 and a Memo for it, I will submit the form to my chain of command next drill I just want to know the odds since I chose to go to the army because I qualified a lot of better MOSs

Well so my experience back in 2008. So I was Active Duty Marine Corps from 2001-2005. Then went into the IRR. From there got Muster called a bunch of times and got sick of it so I joined a reserve unit. It was an AT Battalion from what I have heard they don't have anymore. Got sick of the nonsense placing they were going so went back into the IRR. Moved joined 3rd Lar reserve unit it was not my cup of tea. So I tried to go back Active Duty. Boom the new Tat policy came into effect which the Navy of course never documented stuff back in 2005 for Tats so I wasn't grandfathered in. So I dropped into IRR went and seen an Army recruiter and boom was in the Army. It took some time to adjust to the little differences but being infantry it was pretty much the same.

Got it so basically it’s a little bit easier if you are in the IRR than still being on a drilling status ?

LCpl (Join to see) - Yes way easier to go Active from the IRR to either the Corps or the Army. Go speak with some recruiter see what options are for you. Since you are a regular drilling reserve in the corps I'm not sure how hard it will be to go IRR but would have to speak to your command.
