1SG (Join to see), if asked for government-issued photo ID, do you think she'd whip out her Autistic License?

1SG (Join to see), you can be pretty sure that any malapropism coming from me is intentionally playful (or at least that's how I'll plead when caught).

I do love the patch-between-the-running-lights look. One of the reasons I truly approve of the beret!

PVT Robert Gresham I tend to focus on the positive, I love the message of the Flutist w/BS. We need strong professionals in the military, this picture happens to be a female professional soldier SSG with wartime service strips. She has a supportive Mom and Sister, it is just a great message.

I've seen what the Army Band members did in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's just say it wasn't the landing at Normandy. Mostly we got the occasional chamber music in the chow hall and support for the occasional ceremony. Nice, but not exactly BSM-worthy.

As far as I have been able to find out band members are also used as bodyguards for the Generals that they accompany. I do not know if this is the case with this soldier, but it does open up some new and exciting possibilities.

PVT Robert Gresham, I guess we don't know. I wouldn't want to speculate because that would lead us down the rabbit hole. I stand by my original comment.

Well, I guess I should double check my facts first next time. Here is the Marines take on the Band in the Combat zone. http://usmilitary.about.com/od/marines/a/bandcombat.htm

As I was outside with the kids tonight doing a little premature 4 July test firing of various exploding projectiles, I am reminded once again of what is important, and how I am changed from my service. The kids just feel the joy of sparks and pops and bangs; I feel the tension and anxiety that each pyrotechnic brings up from deep within.
I am reminded of how once the pops and bangs were the urgent report of incoming... the many near misses... the times they didn't miss and but for the grace of God, training, and a well-positioned bunker things may have turned out differently.
It is a bit easier every year, but it is still there, just beneath my façade and forced smile.
