Community care got my shoulder replacement surgery done quickly and used the most current surgery method SWAT; I started physical therapy within the week of completed surgery but ended abruptly after about 2 months. The Physical Therapy office was not well educated on the VA process so I schooled them. The VA referral approval for more physical therapy sessions was auto filed at the doctor office and not forwarded to physical therapy - why can’t I get a copy sent to me at the same time it is sent to my physician?

Why do I need a copy of the Explanation of Benefits?

The system used for scheduling/coordinating Community Care appts can send out appt letters and other types of letter. The actual referral, or voucher, is processed offline, so its not something that would automatically be sent to a patient. I would guess if you specifically asked for a copy it might be able to be mailed but would take a little effort. If you stop by the VA and speak to someone from Community Care I think they would be able to print you a copy right there. I know I would.

I'm on community care for my knees, I don't get anything from VA regarding authorizations either. I can't find a way to find out about authorizations other than calling the provider. The EOB is just a record of treatment, but remember that some VA members have a copay. I keep my copies as part of my records.
Here is the VA website on Community Care. I don't see an answer to your question. https://www.va.gov/COMMUNITYCARE/programs/veterans/General_Care.asp
