Who has the authority to remove an AEA code "A"?

Or who has the authority to put an AEA code A on a Soldier's ERB?
BTW, the code means "permanently ineligible for future assignment". The Soldier has never been flagged or had a physical profile. The Solider was a MAVNI recruit w/ more than 3 years on her 1st assignment.

Has she received US Citizenship or permanent resident alien status. If not she probably has that AEA code so that she is not sent overseas; therefore, eliminating the need for her to re-enter the US. While many of the AEA codes can only be adjusted by HRC, her local HR can adjust AEA code A if it is no longer correct.

She's received citizenship since AIT and just revoked her original citizenship this June. The problem with HRC is there's never people to answer the phone.

The Soldier is a MAVNI and they're stabilized until a background check is completed. Even gaining citizenship won't suffice. This is part of the reason the MAVNI program ended.

SPC (Join to see) that doesn't mean there was a favorable conclusion either. The MAVNI thing is a huge stalemate between the DOD and one of the other departments (I forget which). The issue is much bigger than an AEA code. There's another code for MAVNI that's not viewable by you or the SM that prevents the branch from moving the SM until a thorough background check is done. I have one in my unit right now who has his citizenship and has been here five years and still can't move. This issue is a Pentagon level issue and it's part of why MAVNI are no longer accessed into the Army.

Agree, SFC. So far she had brought up the issue to Brigade S1. What did you/your Soldier have to do to figure out the issue? What worked? What didn't?

SPC (Join to see) nothing works. This is a Pentagon level issue. There is nothing that your S1 can do. The AEA code isn't the issue, it's a by product of being a MAVNI. The Soldier has to have a thorough background check that is found favorably. The issue is that MAVNIs were accessed prior to having a complete background check in order to fill the Army. They can't move until the background investigation is completed. This is why MAVNI ended and candidates were discharged from the DEP because their investigations didn't finish within a year.
Your Soldier will have to come to terms with the fact they could be at that post for years and plan their career around that or get out.

Pretty sure it won't come off until you get the immigration thing straightened out. A local commander may have implemented the Code but DA has to remove it and they will not as long as the fix is not complete.
