Why did we do away w/ BDUs?!! Love and hate ABUs. I think they are pretty, but after wearing ABUs for 188 days in 135F desert heat in Djibouti (before they came out with summer weights), the sauna outfit was torture. Now that I am in Alaska, I love them. LOL!!

Marines, because it works.
Navy Why blue cammies? if you're a man overboard I think looking like the surf/ water would be a bad idea.
Army sadly it's been proven that their pattern isn't that effective.
Air Force why?

allegedly supposed to be the most common paint colors found on Navy ships...only problem there is that no one paints in anything but coveralls and when in port the ship doesn't rock back and forth so you are extremely less likely to brush up against wet paint while transiting the passageway...therefore and in conclusion, all previously justified reasoning for camouflage Navy uniform is hereby denied and should be stricken from the record.

CPO (Join to see) I remember a meme a while back that made fun of the Navy's pattern by showing that it almost perfectly blended into the tile in a P-way.

Politics, politicians, and General/Admiral (flag) officers as well as E-9s and E-10s seem to drive most factors. The USMC, keeping the two-uniform idea, did well but if I had only one uniform to pick from, the MultiCam pattern (which, oh by the way, was in the initial US Army testing that somehow the ACU pattern won) is best.

If I had my way, all services would adopt the Marine Woodland and Desert Patterns (minus the Globe and Anchor). This way, for our battle uniforms we would all look alike, just like we did when we all had the BDU pattern. Leave the unique uniforms for our semi formal and formal uniforms. In battle, we don't need the chance of hesitating trying to figure out who someone is.

Hey PO2 Ed C. you just gotta know how to rock em. Magnum P.I. used to run around in dungaree pants on the show and the women loved him. Same for me really...lol

Being Army, I gotta vote for my service. I do like the Navy blue camo, though. That would be my second choice.

I was in when they were testing it and we all wanted a bdu style uniform instead of the poorly fitting utilities. I managed to get ahold of a pair of Marine pants for my flight deck clothing and I loved them. But the blue/grey pattern they went with is strange. It looks like my coveralls after I got RTV all over them and was declared unsat by my Chief.

Being a biased Marine and looking at the overall consensus I wholeheartedly disagree with you. The Army tried to copy the Marines and it failed. I also think if the pic showed both sets by far it is us...lol. And lets not get started on the best dress uniforms. Add in the regs for how the uniforms have to look as a whole and the Marines run away with it. There is a reason the photo above has the Corps uniform on a mannequin because if it was on a real Marine there would be no contest.

Marine corps by far whoever up their chain of command realizes they still need camouflage for places other than a gravel pile or grandma's floral print couch.

Marines for sure, not a biased opinion. We did the digital transition first and did it the best.

I have to say the Corps has the best. They stuck to logical patterns that actually work, unlike us, who can only hide in a gravel parking lot.

MARPAT, there's no contest. ACU looks like digital barf, ABU is slightly darker digital barf, Navy's looks good if you're camouflaging against a set of garish drapes, and who knows WHAT the hell the Coast Guard is doing.
