The draft board got me to enter the Army. I didn't choose to go, but I did so, and served my country 1966-68. I didn't have to go to Nam; remained at Ft. Hood until discharged. Looking back it was an amazing experience, and I am glad I had it.

Viet Cong and the Selective Service. I was going and wanted choices so I enlisted to go to OCS, but got my back injured in basic. Got sent to Signal Corp instead.

"Papa Ho". Didn't care for him until just a few years ago when I was researching our government and the military. Turns out he was a very honorable patriot to his countrymen. Amazingly, Vietnamese love America... a lot.

Yes and I read he came to us for assistance, the USA turned him down to support France and the rest is as they say "History"

You are spot on SP5 Gerhart. He did indeed. But after WWII, when the two "super Powers" (USA and Russia) had a heavy hand in directing the distribution of the "spoils of that war", USA decided to favor their Ally, France, and as you said, the rest is history.
