All of my WWII uncles and my father. I decided to join to earn and learn a trade. And that worked out for me. I made a career out of the training and confidence I received from being in the US Army.

My father convinced me to join the Air Force. He served in the Amy Air Corps during WWII and said that was the best service to go to.

I would say that my Father was the reason that I joined the Navy. It was in 1969 and I made it known that I wanted to Join. My father was really upset and said NO (I was only 18). Then later in that year a co-worker of my fathers said he was sending his son to Canada to keep him from being drafted. MY father was furious. He told him that his Daughter was joining the Navy so his sorry A*** son could run and hide from his duty to the service. I was allowed to join in January just before my 19th birthday

At the age of 22 I decided it was time to "get out of town" my home town had nothing to offer and I had no real inspiration or motivation. I didn't want to go to school (college) I had no one mentoring me for any other options, so I went to visit my local recruiter. My brother went along saying he might want to join as well. Unfortunately he had some legal troubles and could not but I passed the exams and was accepted. The rest is history and some of the best times of my life

It was the recruiter who convinced me to join the Air Force. He was amazing!

I needed employment. I kept influencing myself until I retired. It was great!

I decided I wanted to support my country in a meaningful way. I joined the Marines to do so.

It was my father. He joined at 17, at first with the Army, serving as an MP in post-war Berlin.
After discharge, he eventually joined the Navy, serving as an ET on the USS Missouri during the Korean War.

My brother. It was the summer before my senior year and he was home on leave. I didn't know what I wanted to do after high school. He told me to go in HR so I wouldn't get deployed, he was Infantry. My first assignment I ended up in Armored Cav and was deployed to Desert Storm.
