All 5 of my brothers joined the military, they were the influence that made me want to join, to carry on our family tradition, although I was the only female in our family to join. My father started the tradition by joining the Navy during the end of the Korean war. Between us, we covered all the services except National Guard. In spite of any issues faced, I think we all would do it again. My son in law recruited my son into the Army with my blessing as well. I believe he was inspired because of both of his grandfathers having served during wartime, as well as both his parents having been
in the military before he was born.

My dad and my stepdad. My dad went through enlisted commissioning program after Korea. He was a helo pilot. Stepdad was a combat engineer. Both were Army. I joined the Navy because of them.

Honestly I just did not want to go to college at the time, and thought that the Army would get me away from home as well as earn some money to go towards college afterwards, but I lost that money.

My Brother, I woul sit and listen to him about the places he had been, meeting different people. Some places were better than other. He fought in Vietnam War , came home a different person. To me he was my Hero. I joined the Army because of him.

I was influenced by a judge , join or serve (time) it was a bullshit charge but I wasn’t well liked in my Deep South community as I got caught in a delicate situation with the deputy sheriffs daughter! So l joined the army . With no real skills I made an ideal infantryman!
