I came from a military family. I am an Army Brat, with my father, mother, and oldest brother all having served in the Army. It was meant for me to follow in their footsteps.

My high school English teacher convinced me in my senior year that I was too reclusive and needed to socialize more and learn to work as part of a team. He thought the Army would broaden my perspective and would be a good experience for me.

Richard M. Nixon, the man was lacking in social etiquette; how come the draft notice I received didn't have an RSVP request?

Mom and dad both retired from the Army. Dad was getting teased by his boss when mom made Lt. Col, but he didn't. So he told his boss that he was going to go home and F#@& a Colonel face to face. Dad's lack of tact is one of the reasons he didn't made Colonel.

My brother Robert who was injured in Viet Nam was enough to convince me to join the Army. Next was my hope to obtain an education and what an education I received throughout my 22 years of service (with 17 years overseas). I owe my life to those who served in the 10th Special Forces Group and taught me what sacrifice really means and how to survive no matter how dismal the situation may be. Respect, duty, and honor all of which remain utmost in the forefront of my mind.
