When I left the Army in 2009, I thought I wouldn't miss all the deployments, but I do.

CSM Michael J. Uhlig CSM yeah I know what you mean. Those are always the best parts of a deployment. I miss the comrade while deployed. You don't have that in the civilian world and it sucks.

Hated them at the time but I agree with CSM Michael J. Uhlig, that sense of purpose is irreplaceable. But I'll forever be grateful for now being able to walk to my shower without putting my hair in a stupid bun lol.

I do, although my life has changed, for the better, every time I read the news about the current state of affairs, I know it won't be long for another one, maybe even here, CONUS. My ability to discuss certain things with most people around me is tiresome, as most live in a unicorn filled glass castle. My personal goal if I go again, is to help someone I shoot, survive.

Absolutely! Ready to roll if the opportunity arose. Nowadays the closest thing is seeking employment that affords a lot of travel.

SSG Keven Lahde - My next "deployment" to my old stomping grounds will be mid-2017. Heading to Oki to visit my brother and then over to mainland to hike Mt. Fuji. Out of pocket deployment is ridiculously expensive, miss the governments dime for travel expenses.

What I don't miss is the test firing of the C-RAMS and THEN they announce TEST FIRE after the test has already been completed. Scared the crap out of me one fine 0230 in the AM after coming back from the latrine.

I just got back from my last deployment this past April - I already miss being deployed and conducting ops. It's a bit disheartening to know I probably won't deploy again until at least 2017.
