Ok, we already talked about guitarist and I got a good feedback. Now, from chords let's move to skins. Since I play drums myself, this discussion is way harder for me. Picking just one out of the whole drumming world is definitely not an easy task for me. Should have divided in Living and Dead but, let's try to keep it simple.

Who hasn't watch Buddy Rich smoking Ed Shaugnessy in Johnny Carson's Tonight show? Who can't recognize YYZ from the first 3 hits on the Ride Cymbal of Neil Peart's drum set? Who hasn't hit a PR working out to Avenged Sevenfold's Nightmare with Mike Portnoy hitting that 2ble pedal in The Rev's (RIP) honor? And I'm pretty sure you have listened to Colaiuta without even knowing it. I can keep on and on bringing names but I'll let you do that.

I know there are lots of drumming beats playing around, if you have to pick just one, who's your favorite drummer?

Mike port it definitely gets my 2 thumbs up, followed by Joey jordison (formerly of slipknot) and Travis Barker. Too many people generalize those two as just a metal drummer or punk drummer, but display vast ranges of style and ability.

CW3(P) (Join to see) I'm completely with you, whoever thinks Barker is just a punk drummer, definitely hasn't "give some to the drummer". About Portnoy, his ability to copy other drumming styles to perfection is just amazing! Like, if you play this video while doing something else, you wouldn't notice is not Rush including the solo!

Ok, the drums tuning would give you a hint, but no the technique.

There is no doubt the Neil Peart gets more out of a drum set than any other human being on the planet.

I've always said the fact that so much exact and complex sound is made by just three men is the legacy of Rush. Truly astounding. I refer to Rush as "thinking man's rock."

The overture and Temples of Syrinx display some of his best drum work and of course YYZ off of Moving Pictures.

John Bonham from Led Zeppelin, Keith Moon from the Who and Phil Collins are three of my favorite drummers. I already mentioned Ginger Baker from Cream and Ringo Starr for his ability and dry sense of humor but responded before I voted :-)

SGT(P) (Join to see) - I've had the benefit of seeing Rush (Neil Peart) in concert six times as well as Godsmack (Sully Erna) and Genesis (Phil Collins). Outstanding drummers all.

SGT(P) (Join to see) - I'll check out Charlie Adams. Always interested to see who influenced someone at the top of their profession.

2LT Scott Armstrong first time I heard Adams I thought, this solo sounds like Peart's. It sounded like a rip of O Baterista from Rock in Rio, he changes the solo every time he plays it but you can hear the semblance.
