I am working on a direct commission packet with an AMEDD recruiter who recommended 72D. I have 11 years as an NCO, transitioned from Army Reserves to regular army. Lost some TIS, so ok with that, just finished my BS so working to plan my next steps as a potential officer. What does the current time frame look like from Packet submission to selection and notification right now?

SSG (Join to see), if selected by the AECP selection board, I think their goal is to contact you within 60 days of the board adjournment. The board convenes in September each year, but there are many factors that could cause a longer wait time for notification. If selected (and you accept) your DCC & BOLC class start dates would be sometime between Jan-Sep. I presume that you are competing for the FY25 board as the FY24 selection board has already met (completed this month actually). See FY24 MILPER Message 22-411. FY25 selection should convene in September 2024.

Also, it is for active duty applicants.

SP5 Peter Keane yes. AECP is for nursing students. If that’s the path you want, plenty of hands in with less legal authority (long term).

I’m now working the OCS route because my public health courses were Exactly what the 72D recruiter was looking for…

CDR Terry Boles Sir, they pushed my packet back because they didn’t see how my public health classes were Exactly their preference. Starting in the OCS path will be easier for next year after a medical setback in November 2023. Will get back to my fitness levels within the year and prepare for FY25 as my time has been extended Jan 2024 with another reenlistment. Suggestions on getting this through smoother would be great. I did see they modified what actually goes in my packet through my BDE S1, so now to get a new application dated for next year.

Let's say some one got his MEPS waivers in October 2023, and submitted the full application by end of December 2023 - will it just sit until September 2024 when AECP convenes again?

72D Environmental Science & Engineering is a Medical Service Corps (MSC) speciality.
The biggest question is, where is your packet???
Your AMEDD recruiter should know or be able to find this information.

AMEDD Recruiter should keep you posted. Have you met with AMEDD Counselor for interview. Should have a business card.

If you are not getting frequent updates from your recruiter, I would be anxious. If you don't have contact info for your AMEDD Counselor, contact regional Medical Recruiting Batallion. Recruiting.army.mil.mrb

MAJ:

I will reach out to the AMEDD Counselor this week. I didn’t realize that was an option. I know everything else has career counselors, but it’s been few and between as I get my stuff together.

Thank you for your insight. I’ll start pushing a little harder on things now.

SSG (Join to see) Sir, seems I pushed a little too hard, my recruiters NXOIC called me saying I need to check my stuff for accuracy, what they were looking for didn’t exactly fit what I have completed, but I don’t plan on taking more classes (would take me roughly 5 more months to get the “preferred” classes to boost my gpa..

Long story short going to submit an OCS packet with my 10.5 years medical experience in the Army for the medical service corps while in OCS
