First off, I'm not complaining nor ranting about having it on the weekends.
Im just curious with why EDRE is only conducted during the weekends.
Is there like a reason/regulations? Or its just up to the commander?

Conducting an EDRE on a duty day when everyone was already scheduled to be there does not test the unit's ability to recall 100% of their Soldiers.

Thank you for the clarification SGM, so it is literally "Emergency Deployment Readiness Exercise", testing the unit in their level of readiness upon real world situation in a moment of unexpectancy.

running it in the morning of a duty day only tests everyone's ability to show up slightly earlier than PT, and if you run it after a full duty day, odds are most folks would have found out by 1600 and they'll just stick around the company area.

7th ID, 82nd, heck even way back in the 80's in 8th Div.....we had EDRE's on weekdays, weekends, just about anytime other than Holidays or block leave

Because if you want to see just how ready a unit is for rapid deployment, you pick a time when people will generally not be in the office, motor pool, or engaged in training. You want everyone "out of pocket." You want to see how long it takes to get everyone notified, into the office, and ready to roll.
