I thought RP was pretty clear on profile pics, but I've been away for a while. Now that I'm back I see several pics that are all blacked out. Why is that? Asking for a friend...

Not having a Profile photo on Rally Point is no worse than being Anonymous!

A deployed friend maintains his rank and first name on RP. That is cool!

A lifelong tenent of mine has been to seek and accept responsibility.

Unless someone is a SOF Operator, or other crucial-extremely secret position why should they hide? From What?

There's no reason anyone should hide their name. There's no operator here so secret that they don't have a name and rank. Even before people go into SMUs they have a name and rank. If someone doesn't want their current unit known, they can omit that.

CSM Charles Hayden - a tenet I agree with.
However, to answer you, maybe it’s not always hiding? More of just a bit of privacy in a world of dwindling privacy? Particularly on RP, as long as folks aren’t making outlandish claims, like being awarded an MH with V device, does it matter?

Good information is good information. It doesn’t matter if you receive it on a polished Power Point or a dinner napkin.

Respectfully, present company not included, some of the posts written by folks on RP with fully visible profiles and photos are borderline dumpster fires. But that’s besides the point. If engaged in a discussion, many times, people simply stop responding, shift their responses to downright vulgar insults, or block a person when they get backed into a corner by facts and logic.

If a visible profile and picture is the only measure of accepting responsibility, I suppose I humbly decline.
Also, I suppose that sensitive career fields are also a good reason
Thanks for your time. best of luck.

I agree that too many people will hide behind anonymous screen names and make comments they would never make if their faces and/or profiles were visible. Do what you want on social media, but if the rules are to have a visible picture then that's the rules of engagement. other platforms do not require any verification whatsoever, I think that takes away from credibility. What do you mean blacked out? Do you mean just not a picture submitted?

OK, LTC Charles Blake I have a gray outline of a body that signifies no picture . I have seen a picture that maybe the individual is dark skinned and has a very close close-up which makes the picture dark. I simply left my picture off. So does no picture means a blacked out picture.
