Why are the motorcycle club members who were around during the shooting still in jail?

Here again I'm not a big fan of outlaw motorcycle clubs, but I think something stinks with the McClennen County DA in the Waco shooting. It has been a month and First you can't tell me that all 170 of those people were involved in the fight. How was probable cause determined? Second the police misled the public about the purpose of the meeting saying it was about turf and recruiting, but it can be easily verified on Google that it was a regular meeting of the Coalition of Clubs. Most of the people arrested were in family, veteran, or ministry clubs. Why the lie? Third the DA said on CNN that he was holding these citizens because they were not cooperating with the police. What happened to Miranda and the 5th Amendment? Fourth the 8th Amendment specifically forbids excessive bond, is 1 Million not excessive? I'm not a lawyer and I know some of you are so help me out, is this not a clear 42 US code sec 1983 case? And why is this taking so long? I believe most in that jail on this case are innocent. We all took an oath to protect and defend the constitution, but watch it trampled on.

I too am a motorcycle rider and at times when the brain permits me (dizzy spells) I ride with the Patriot Guard, the rally was to discuss pending motorcycle laws, had my brain permitted me I would have driven to Waco, since there are request for lane splitting here in Texas. There is no reason for the lack of commonsense in the arrests of 170 and worse the high bail, other then to attempt to send a message to the 1%, but in the process the city will be sued by the 99%.

I was going to post my opinion and then I read each previous response and realize most here are not interested in hearing my beliefs and opinions
Most here want others to post a response that agrees and supports their preconceived opinion of what happened, what is happening and why.
So have at it. But I'll say you learn more from
Listening, researching and experience and then speaking then you do just talking based on what the news fed you at 23:00

I do have my own opinions about things, but I learned a long time ago that to stop listening and re-evaluating the available information can be dangerous to me and mine. I may not agree with you, but I will always give serious consideration to reasoned input.......

Most of those arrested we not in vet, ministry or riding clubs. Almost all arrested were were from the 3 1%MC's.
Those that are being held are being held as said above on the grounds of organized crime. It was not a CoC meeting that went bad. It was a pretty arranged meeting to try and discuss a truce between the clubs, obviously it turned into a my dick is bigger then yours meeting. Are you going to start believing the BS that the police opened fire for no reason? If you live in the world of MC'S and 1% MC'S, you would know that it does not matter what patch you have on your back and if you say your law abiding or not, the cops don't care. And besides if they are a vet MC then they are on the DHS list of domestic terrorists and they will hold them forever under the bullshit laws passed after 9-11

I hate to tell you but there is more then one 1% club in Texas. I'm sure your referring to the Banditos. But there are a few other clubs in Texas are considered 1%. That would be like saying only the Outlaws are 1% up here. And we have Outlaws, Sons of Silence, Banditos, Hells Angels and many more.

I worked for the IN-NGHQ in the JOC before I retired. According to the Department of Homeland Security, all Veteran Motorcycle Groups are on the Homeland Terrorist Watch list. I know a few groups that are legit, even some members are questionable, that are watched by the FBI, DHS, and ATF just because of their size and numbers of veterans.

My contacts within the LE community agree with SFC Gallagher about Vet groups being listed by DHS. Note I used the word "group" there. It doesn't have to be a 'club'. If you're a veteran group with any organization at all you're most likely on the list. Legion Riders were already listed simply because of membership in the Legion, per se. So being a rider just added a footnote to the listing. Apparently the concern is the gathering of a specific 'skill' pool that worries some people......

Like Cpt Pedro Meza, I ride with the Patriot Guard. The mess in Waco has a stench that will take years to clear away. The initial charges and the bonds were set by a JP, which left the county in an awkward position since JP's are not authorized to sit on felony charges (all charges were under RICO, hence Felonies) and they are not authorized to set bail amounts that high. So the city was scrambling to get judges to correct all that. In the mean time the pressure on ALL motorcycle riders in "clubs" is being kept up. Any time the police see 3 or more club members together they get pulled over for whatever reason, basically for an ID check to make sure they realize they're being watched.
I attended a funeral for a Sherrif dept. employee yesterday north of Tyler and was stopped three times between the funeral and my home (about two hours south). My bike has an American flag (cased) on a staff and a smaller Patriot Guard Rider flag on my tour pack trunk. I was cool for the first two times, but the third time I got a little hot and demanded to see a supervisor and declined (respectfully) to cooperate until he arrived. We had a reasonable discussion about the differences between "clubs" and PGR and I was allowed to continue my journey home with apologies. I'm hoping for an outbreak of common sense to occur, but I'm not optimistic. I have another mission today in Tyler for a Viet Nam veteran, so I'm curious to see how it goes this time. I won't stop riding to pay respects and honor our comrades.........
