Why are there so many Political posts on RallyPoint? I thought this was the place for veterans and veterans issues. Disappointed?

RallyPoint is reflective of what is happening around us. While of course we have seen a spike in political posts, RallyPoint remains to be a place where Active Duty Service Members and Veterans can come to voice their ideas among their peers. Is the number of political posts borderline "crazy", as one of the Senior User Admins, I would say yes but within that is the beauty of this site. Here you can come, voice your thoughts in a respectful and constructive manner and get some great insight to a lot of different topics.

not always, ive seen many very vicious attacks by other RP members, down votes without cause, and blocking without cause maybe before another RP member down votes or blocks you there at least should be a post as to why, so as to correct or accept

MSG (Join to see) - I agree with what you say. Even though people can come here and share their ideas in a respectful and constructive manner, events like the ones you mentioned do happen. While commenting with a down vote is not currently required, we encourage people to do so if they feel the need to downvote. Personally, if I down vote someone, I comment. It is rare that I down vote but I don't down vote because I don't agree with someone's comment, I down vote because (a) the comment does not help to further the discussion, (b) the person that wrote the post comments first on their own post as to stop someone from getting trailblazing points and (c) for giving out false information. As an admin, if i see someone being disrespectful I take a different course of action. If it is their first time making such a comment, I send a message and remind them of RP 3.1 - The Code of Conduct for RallyPoint. The second time, I'll suspend their account for a short time, sort of like time-out and the third time we will just kick them off the site. Now, sometimes, users get 2nd, 3rd and even 4th chances to come back and contribute to the community but those are rare as well. What I will say to everyone is if you someone being disrespectful, please feel free to tag any of the User Admins (we have stars by our profile pictures) and we will take care of it without having you brought into the discussion. We do our best to maintain this place but with the number of great users expanding and the number of great posts every day, it is hard to stay on top of every single post.

When controversial polls political polls in questions are asked it shouldn't matter how many points you have if you can respond to the question and be able to vote up or down when I can vote up but I can't go down because I don't have enough points I think that's b*******

I AGREE...We are posting political, religious, orientation and other topics that have nothing to do with veterans, active duty, and veterans issues. Some do but most don't. Most people are turning RP into Facebook and I am about to pull my plug on it because too many people get angry when they post something saying they want an honest discussion and when you give an opinion, you get lambasted and you are called archaic, racist, homophobe, one sided, sexist, misogamist, fill in whatever term you want here and it turns into internet warfare. I am about done.

Nice thought Sgt Hallock but i doubt you will see any decrease since the country is so divided and looks like it remain divided.

Please feel free to contact myself or another admin if a member is attacking another member. Disagreement and debate are fine, but this is still a professional site and our members are expected to follow our code of conduct. Please let us know if someone is getting out of control.

It's a sign of the troubled times we live in. You'll notice that the majority of the political posts come from a relatively small number of RP members (including myself). For my part I try to post questions and topics that run counter to the highly vocal and often derogatory left. However, I don't think that questions regarding Military Service, Experience, and Veteran's Issues are being ignored.

SP5 Christine Conley - I can only talk about my experience, but the few times I've been called names by someone on this site is when someone from the left has been presented with facts that run counter to their personal opinion. Correct me if I'm wrong, butI don't believe I've ever "degraded" anyone on this site.
