Why did they select the 101st for the West Africa ebola mission?

Some body probably said aerosol and thought they said air assault.

Probably due to a couple of reasons:

1) they were entering green phase in the training cycle, making them available for deployment or were on the disaster relief standby status(most likely reason).

2) they are light forces and their equipment is easily air transportable.

Don't worry, the 82nd will be SECOND relieving the 101st, who is FIRST since the start of the century. Maybe someone will secure an LZ/DZ so the 173rd (yes always the THIRD) can feel comfortable jumping in.
