Why do some soldiers wear the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge with the chord or with out the chord?

I notice that some soldiers have the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge with a chord and some don't. I have tried to research it but I cannot find a clear answer. I am looking into trying out for the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge.

The badge with the chord is the German Armed Forces Badge of Marksmanship or the Schtzenschnur while the one without the chord is the German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge. The first as stated is awarded for Marksmanship with a pistol, rifle and machine gun while the proficiency badge is awarded for completion of a basic fitness test with several events and military training which includes a 100 meter swim for time, first aid, pistol qualification and ruck march for time and distance.

Oh ok, I didn't know there was a fitness test. I only did the Schtzenschnur.

The one without cord is the fitness one. The one WITH CORD is for W-E-A-P-O-N-S

I missed my chance to get one while deployed :-( wasn't in the right place at the right time. Technically officers can earn them, but they can't WEAR them (likely because the ASU fit it with the shoulder boards, maybe that will be changed for the pink/green)

I believe it is because officers don't wear US marksmanship badges, so why would it be authorized to wear foreign?

SSG (Join to see) - The reg says officers can't wear the German marksmanship. The reg doesn't say officers can't wear the Army Marksmanship, it only says "soldiers may" wear it. While it is tradition that officers don't wear the marksmanship it is the reg that says they can't wear the German one.
DPAM 670-1 20-15 c) .....Soldiers may wear up to three marksmanship badges.....
DPAM 670-1 20-18 c. The German Marksmanship Award (Schuetzenschnur) is authorized for wear only by enlisted personnel. Officers may accept, but may not wear, the Schuetzenschnur.
I have not found the reg yet the prohibits officers from wear of the US Marksmanship badges.
Marksmanship is my pet peeve. So much so I also found the regulation that let's soldiers go to shooting matches (military or civilian) as a place of duty.
AR 350-66, Chapter 2, 2–1, a)
Now, it doesn't get me out of my primary duty, but it comes in handy when I need an RST for missing a drill event or catch up on points missed during a BA conflict with AT. Most come into the office and twiddle their thumbs. I can usually find a gun match close enough to the RST time limit window.
Yea, I'm the unit "gun nut".

CPT (Join to see) - I honestly was completely unaware there wasn't a regulation prohibiting this, and it was just an Officer culture thing. Thanks for the new information!

SSG (Join to see) I think officers don’t want to admit they can’t shoot well by wearing it on their chest.
