Why do the Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Service Officers refuse to assist a Veteran after a lawyer gets involved?

I have a fellow Veteran who told me that the Veterans Affairs and the Veterans Service Officer stopped assisting with her service connected claim because she asked for help from a friend with a law degree. I would like to know why this would happen.

What a paradox. So if a vet is a prior military paralegal to a JAG officer, would he or she be denied all help then? Something's not right there or there might be more to the story than we know

Something is definitely not right about this situation. That is why I'm doing my best to investigate.

I spoke with the DAV National Service Officer (NSO) and was informed that the Veteran was still represented by the DAV and that it was a matter of waiting for the appeal to be reviewed. I was told that a lawyer would have to be accredited and trained by the VA in order to represent a Veteran on a claim. When a Veteran hasn't been contacted by their Veteran's Service Officer (VSO) they sometimes get the impression that their claim is no longer being represented. The word "wait" is the worse 4-letter word that any Veteran can hear when dealing with a VA claim.

I filed a claim back in the 90's and again in 1997 and again in 2003-2004. Now in 2017 wow such a long process.
