I was notified May 3rd that I have till 1 November to leave the service and never be able to serve again due to overweight 3 years ago. With 60 days saved leave that puts me at 4 months to find a new career after serving 11 years.

Sergeant, sorry to hear of your predicament. It seems like you're at the end of the "appeal" process and you need to make final arrangements.

I would suggest that you find a way to transfer to the Reserves so that you can continue to earn toward your retirement. I wouldn't want to waste 11 years of active duty points. Even if you earned minimal Reserve points, your pension would be double mine.

Don't discount this.

CW3 (Join to see) - I'm actually retired. But If you look at 1SG Douchbag, he's not verified. I've actually had to prove who I am. No need to be deferential to me, my boots are not being worn. I think if 1SG Mehoff was in my BN I would have had him moved to an operations job. JMHRO.

1SG (Join to see) - Again, you obviously did not read the material that was put before you. He had one bad NCOER 3 years ago, and has not had a negative one since. I find it hard to believe that a senior NCO can not actually take the time and read an article before making an ass of one's self.

1SG (Join to see) As you are an Airborne Ranger I understand that the standards of excellence to which you’ve come accustomed. And I agree that Army standards must be maintained. However, RP affords Soldiers the opportunity to use a network of Soldiers, vets, officers, NCOs, junior enlisted to glean whatever knowledge and advice they may have. (Having just re-read that I understand how that sounds like a cop out but please bare with me.)

It would seem your concerns and irritation are legitimate however, not germane to @SSG Daniel Santana original question of “Why does QMP message say soldier has 7 months to get out but it's actually 6 or less by time of notification?”

I believe your discourse would be better pointed to a question you pose for others to respond. I’m sure many leaders who have posted so far agree that the standards must be met but they are also looking at it as a Soldier asking for advice. I’m willing to bet that were you to post a question regarding to the effect of Why aren’t leaders holding Soldiers accountable …” etc, many of the same names you see who posted here, including myself, would support your supposition.

Well that’s my 2 cents, I’m gonna STFU now and do some gardening. Thank you for all the excellent work the Rangers do that we see and for those which we may never hear or see.

And to everyone, remember our the fallen brothers and sisters and stay safe. God Bless you all.

1SG (Join to see) - I wouldn't worry about that E-5 mechanic calling you a douch. You probably have more time in the chow hall than he has in the Army. The problem with these guys, is that they don't know what a fighter is. They think because they support warriors, that they themselves are warriors, but have never set foot on a battle field. Therefore, they allow their personal feelings to get involved with "good Soldiers." You are absolutely correct. If a Soldier is fat, he/she should be put out.

Tell them you're transsexual. The ask that the BF% be recalculated under female standards. If that doesn't work, tell them they're bigots. They'll back down.

You do know that women get to weigh less for the same height, right?

2LT Irene Mason - umm, the weight isn't the concern if they're obviously OVER, it's the tape measurements...

2LT Irene Mason - Hence the BF% recalculation. Females are allowed more BF%. Also, it was a joke. Let it go.

We flag Soldiers for stupid sh*t like this as if it is going to motivate them. Can the SM do the job? If yes, they stay.

Well put. I understand the standard. But I also value PEOPLE. The ultimate military standard is complete the mission. If we cut everyone who is flawed (we all are), the the pool of resources (Again, PEOPLE) is diminished. Especially true in low-density MOS's.

Standards are standards. If you can't maintain and wrap your mind around the easy standards, how are you going to wrap your mind and fully engage the difficult missions. Also, if regulations were willy-nilly adhered to and enforced, we would have a willy-nilly military.
