Why if I'm at 60% disability & have a helpless child who's 28, and I'm the guardian of, does the V A refuses to give me a dependent rate?

Have court documents stating he's an incapacitated adult, he receives SSI, Has been disabled since childhood, and had an IEP since the age of 3. These all qualify him as a helpless child but every time I apply for the dependent rate it is denied. He relies on me completely for his day- to - day activities and I'm responsible for every day needs.

Same boat. I have special needs Daughter. As soon as my Wife and I got Guardianship and my daughter got SSI, part of her SSI payment came out of my disability check. When she turned 21 it changed. I started getting Social Securty because I retired. So I get mine and now she gets her own Social Security. It's all so confusing. If you call and ask questions, it's like you got the wrong number an got China. Because it sure sounded like Chineese to me.
