CIF is so much better here at Fort Bragg than the ones from AIT and Basic. My question however is they are still issuing us IOTV in UCP is that just because it’s surplus for training purposes? I can’t see the mix of OCP and UCP going over well in the field lol

Because your IOTV from CIF is for training. When you deploy you'll get the latest and greatest from RFI.
As for the field, I deployed to OIF2 in 2004 with an brand new M16A4 and a mix of DCU and woodland print TA50. You get what the Army has in stock based on where you sit on the priority list. When I was at 1st Group in Okinawa I got issued all the newest Gen3 ruck and body armor in the newest camo. When I arrived at JBLM they issued me a UCP ruck and IOTV that looks like the ones I received brand new when I deployed in 2006.

When they made the change of uniform camouflage, they stated that because of cost they will phase out the OCP TA50. If you ever deploy they will issue the new camo pattern for all TA50.

SGT (Join to see) - FYI, turned in my last woodland gear in 2009. Late deployers from Campbell were still being issued in in 2009.

The original plan was to contract out mobile dye labs to dye the UCP kit coyote tan, but that had also probably gotten too expensive.

The CIF is better at big Army posts. Bragg of course is the flagship of FORSCOM. IET posts issue the bare minimums. Some of this has to do with unit supplemental funding for the draw menus.
