I have had some child custody issues arise to where i will be enduring a nasty court battle. I have let my chain of command know a month ago when i found out my ex was trying to enroll him school without my permission, I am set to deploy and have and upcoming AT. I have had no answers even though I keep asking. I know people have gotten off for possible jobs but yet the custody and welfare of my child seems of no concern to them. I have deployed before, im not trying to avoid it, i volunteered for this one a while ago and then now these issues have arose. I feel my issue is not being taken seriously by my SL, they claimed to have let the CO know but again I have had no answers. I just want what is best for my son.

I apologize, I was trying to elaborate but my internet wasnt cooperating. I have had some child custody issues arise to where i will be enduring a nasty court battle. SPC(P) (Join to see) Have you requested to speak to the 1SG or commander? If yes..did you? If no, then do.
Think though the conversation, write it down, study it, facts not emotion...
How does your request support the unit? If not in the short term (deploying as planned) then long term..You stay in and serve with them in the future.
Is your request leading to a long term solution or an intermediary fix, short term stop gap? If not long term solution, what are your plans to finish the issue to final resolution that supports your needs and the unit mission?

You will have more luck telling the Cofc why they want to support you than telling them they should.

SGM, I have not requested to speak to them yet, I was trying to be respectful and let my SL and Platoon SGT try to do what they could but it seems it is not important to them. I will request to speak to the 1SG.

SPC(P) (Join to see) - Don't assume...ASK them. Perhaps they did mention it, but got no response....that in itself could be telling.
Its not a bad plan to use the NCO support channel ... But is not disrespectful to ask to speak to a senior leader about a very important subject you do not feel is being addressed with appropriate seriousness, misunderstood or turned down without feedback to know why, and if it was done with compleat considerations for the mitigation you stated to your SL/PSG.

SPC(P) (Join to see) Go discuss this directly with your 1SG and/or commander on the Open Door Policy..

That is why every Commander has an Open Door Policy. If your immediate chain of command aren't willing to help, take it to the next level. Then keep going from there. IF that doesn't help, talk to JAG and get some free legal advice. Best of luck to you on this.

SPC(P) (Join to see) Definitely a tough situation to find yrself in. Timing couldn't be much worse from everyone's point of view. Hope you have a good family support network. As MSG (Join to see) suggests if you were to get an audience with the CO tomorrow, and you tell s/he yr story, know exactly what it is you are asking for and want s/he to do to provide assistance in dealing with this serious family issue. Emphasize you are not trying to avoid deployment or active duty-type assignments as that thought is likely to come to mind. Pls keep RP informed of how things work out for you.
