I honestly don't believe that it would lead to adulterous behavior, it's just a form of entertainment. Being faithful is all part of being disciplined as a service member, you should be able to wait until you are with your loved one.

Why is porn popular? It's like bacon for the mind.

Back in April 2009 I arrived at Kandahar Airfield as a contractor. We were staying in the nasty transit tents by the poo poo pond and there was a Marine that shared the space. I want to say it was an element from 2-8 Marines. Every night this Marine would lay in his cot watching porn in full view of everybody with the volume up. Even with the lights out. How hard up do you have to be that you can't control that urge. I mean come on. Which suggests to me some of the sexual assault that occurs in the military can be attributed to people like that.

I agree. I believe that porn is the "gateway" for sexual assault, rape, prostitution, adultery, beastiality, and other sex natured problems.

Sounds like that guy had a problem with or with the porn! Someone should have turned his ass in for help!

Yes, I've deployed 3 different times; 2 to Iraq and 1 to Kosovo. I said it has the potential of leading to worse things like adultery. There are links that others have posted within this topic that link the two.

SGT(P) (Join to see) I disagree with your assertions. Both that porn leads to adultery, and the (unspoken) assertion that porn is inherently bad. ANY -addiction- is bad, but watching porn does not in and of itself make you an addict. Only when it begins to effect your life in adverse manners can you apply that label. Humans are sexual animals. Trying to force your moral or religious viewpoints onto biology if pointless, and absolutely doomed to fail.

That is your opinion. I believe that something that can be harmful to your thoughts and if viewed too much can lead to much worse. So we can agree, that we disagree.

PO1 Andrew Gardiner - Excellent point. @ 45 years old, I've never strayed from a relationship, nor assaulted anyone as a result of...well. You know. And your analogy is perfect. Can't say that my record of not cheating on my dietary goals is nearly so pristine, heh....but, as you say, with full knowledge.

What facts do you have to support this claim?

I find that people only commit adultery when something is lacking in their relationships, whether it be physical, emotional, whatever. Porn doesn't have anything to do with it unless someone becomes an actual addict.

Note that if one partner has a problem with their partner viewing porn, that's truly an emotional issue on them both.

Interesting topic! Lmao Some people actually develop relationships in their mind with porn actors/actresses. I can see how it can be harmful. It can open a door to internet relationships on dating sites, craigslist and then they will start pretending to be something that one is not. It can easily become an addiction that most will deny. If you can't do it with your spouse, don't do it.

If your spouse needs a little extra help... ummm get on your job. They'll explode with excitement once you open your mouth and mind to their needs.

Ask your unit SHARP NCO. They are trained to answer such elaborate questions.
