Seriously I wanna know. Mainly from you senior leadership and your mentality when it comes to this specific headgear, or even as to why it's frowned upon in the field when it's clearly authorized to be worn in the field.

Also if you are just going to bash me or make smart ass remarks because I'm asking this question, then don't even leave a comment. Thanks

From a safety standpoint, the soldier should be wearing appropriate headgear associated with his MOS. Other than that, I could care less about what type of headgear is worn in the field.

Simple it does not look Professional to many of the Senior Leadership. It fops. No Clear lines no neatness to it. Like you I like the boonie cap. It shades your eyes better. Protects your skin better. I am getting what My RN Daughter says looks the beginning of skin cancer now. So while there are many great things to say for and about the boonie cap it does not look professional to most of the Senior Leadership.

I think it all boils down to uniformity and commanders discretion, not saying that it is right

Oh boy, this always got me fired up. The Air Force is just as stupid about it. They used to let us wear it on the flightless in Tucson if we used the string to keep it on our head but later said that was a no-go as well. At least enlisted in the AF don't wear rank on their hats.

WHILE BACK IN MY DAYS OF ARMY RESERVES
(1963-1967) WE HAD NOTHING LIKE THE BOONIE CAP!
THE FATIGUE CAP WE HAD AFTER BCT WAS
A HARD SIDE CAP!
I DONT REMEMBER THE REAL NAME OF THIS CAP BUT IT DID LOOK GOOD AND A SMALL RANK INSIGNIA PIN WAS USED ON THE FRONT OF IT.
THE UNOFFICIAL NICKNAME OF THE CAP WAS THE "CASTRO CAP" AS FIDEL CASTRO
WORE THE SAME STYLE CAP!
IN 1966 THIS CAP WAS FORBIDDEN TO USE
AND WAS REPLACED BY A BASEBALL STYLE
CAP!
I HATED ALL THE UNIFORM STUFF IN THOSE DAYS BUT DID LIKE THE CASTRO CAP!!
WHEN I GOT OUT OF RESERVES OCT
1967, ALL MY STUFF HAD TO BE TURNED BACK, SO IT ALL WENT IN THE DUFFLE BAG AND ACROSS THE COUNTER!
NEVER WANTED A UNIFORM, DONT MISS IT NOW, LOL

The Boonie Cap is a Field Cap and worn in the field or in training for the field. Simple and effective, designed to keep off sun and bugs, wear it with pride! Cheers,

Some people just have a lot of hate in them and want to spread that feeling all over.
