Why is the boonie cap so demonized in the army?

Seriously I wanna know. Mainly from you senior leadership and your mentality when it comes to this specific headgear, or even as to why it's frowned upon in the field when it's clearly authorized to be worn in the field.
Also if you are just going to bash me or make smart ass remarks because I'm asking this question, then don't even leave a comment. Thanks

Attempts at individuality are inversely proportional to TIS and rank. Top of that, now they all watch Seal Team on TV. Boonie hats are kind of like the USAF 50 mission crush hat in expressing individuality. Consider the word uniform.

I personally hat the boonie but that is just my preference. The only way I would hem someone up about wearing one is if not everyone is wearing one. I still believe in uniformity. If we are in the field I don't care.

OK, same situation. My seniors issued us flight coveralls in Vielsek Germany back in 83 when we we training for the Canadian Army Trophy Competition. (I was a tanker back then) anyway, our trainers, their 1SG, and CSM had a fit over it saying it wasn't authorized. Our LTC stepped in and told them he was authorizing it thru the 3RD Armor commander, and they could take it up with him. Well that shut them up until we pushed the issue and wore them into the PX and around off duty. Same thing had to be done with the Post Commander. Shit just happens sometime!

Probably because there is too much variation in the way soldiers wear a boonie cap that a dozen guys can all look different. The baseball style cap our Army has used for generations has a well defined standard look; although back in the BDU day, there were some formed caps and some looked like they were pulled out of the cargo pocket.
I'm a firm believer in using the equipment the Army makes available to us for the weather around us. For people with fair skin, other head gear provides no solar/UV protection for the ear lobes.

Back in the 70s the Army allowed each unit to choose it's own headgear. We had red ones and green ones and blue ones. We had baseball caps or boonie hats or berets. DA decided this was a detrimental to discipline and required everyone to were OD green ball caps. The Airborne had a formal funeral for their berets. It really did produce a much less circus atmosphere on post. The Airborne later rejoiced when they finally got their berets back.

I didn’t wear one because I just didn’t care for, however I didn’t care if soldier’s wore theirs. I would say about 50 percent of my brigade wore one

Guilty, I was one of those types that wore it "incorrectly" with the sides pulled up and the drawstring over the top. For me it was more comfortable that way and still kept the sun off my head, neck and face. And with the sides down it tended to screw with wearing commo headsets or ear muff ear protection. So yeah, guilty as decreed.
Personally, I always felt that field uniforms and how they are worn during normal day to day operations should have a bit of latitude for the wearer. Too many folks are hung up on starch and spit shines still and think everyone should be parade ground pretty every where they go when wearing field/fatigue type uniforms. (LOL, I am getting an image of a bunch of paygrade E8s and 9s loosing their minds over my remarks complete with redden faces and steam shooting out their ears.) But ya know what, by being just a bit relaxed on the trivial my folks got their missions done to and above standard even if they did look rumpled and raggedy. But you tell them there will be an in ranks garrison type uniform appearance inspection at the start of the duty day or as part of the duty day (payday activities, dog and pony shows, etc.) and they would look like the pretty boys and girls at the Pentagon and Arlington.

THE BOONIE CAP IS A BADGE OF HONOR TO MOST 11B SOLDIERS. YOU HAVE TO ACTUALLY BE A "GRUNT" TO UNDERSTAND.

At San Antonio (IMWE), I was a 9/11 mobilization and a very senior O6, some one was constantly asking my O5 chaplains why he didn't correct me. You go chase him down and correct him. The O5 and I were friends and I approved his assignments. I had a CSM in the desert who reminded me every time he saw me about my boonie and I reminded him I was still an O6 and he was welcome to his opinion.
