First i like to say hello and thank you to all my fellow service members, so me and my wife are watching ncaa football games and i see that Army is playing Air force. Then a goofy question came to mind, the army, Air force, and Navy all have football teams so why is there no Marine football team. Could someone educate me about that im curious

That is a good question! Not sure why they don't have their own specific team aside from the Naval Academy.

Since Marines are part of the Navy, Naval Academy grads can either go in the Navy or Marines. So the Marines are part of the Naval Academy!

The comments below that explain that some Marines who attend the Naval Academy are part of the Navy football team are indeed correct. However, there used to be a Marine football team at Quantico, but I think it was disbanded because of the almighty dollar or better said, lack of funds in somebody's budget. P.S. Not sure why my label says 'non-retiree,' as I am retired.

I never realized that the teams were attached to the service academies... hence us no having one! I guess we'll have to improvise and make one made out of permanent personnel attached to OCS (in Quantico).

Actually a team representing the Marines (Mare Island) did play in the Rose Bowl in 1918 and 1919 during WWI. They beat Camp Lewis (Army) in 1918 and lost to the Great Lakes Navy Station in 1919. After the war bowl games went back to the college teams.
