To HRC: why doesn't EES save evaluations on user log out? I lose so much time rewriting evaluations because of your timeout "feature" when I get pulled to do something. It's incredibly frustrating and the fix is literally one line of code: a call to the save function when the timeout function resolves and logs the user out. Seriously, please fix this and save the entire Army thousands of man-hours.

On the old Retain database we use to write reenlistment contracts, whenever we had a gripe about something that should be a simple fix, and we were always told, "It costs a million dollars every time we need to make a change" lol.
I think the Army finds companies to create the most unusable software possible. Mandatory training shouldn't require an entire PowerPoint presentation to tell you how to find and register for a class. There's no reason EES can't save as you go the way Google docs do, or have an autos average every 5 minutes like a word document.

HRC is probably staffed with some s***bag noncom who got out then went to community college for an IT degree just to stick it to everyone who writes evals because he got a bad one.

Just like you KNOW all the a**hats who cruise their motor boats right across the bow of Navy ships in Thimble Shoals are retired Navy or AD on leave who cursed every single time someone did it to them but secretly LIVED for the day when they would be able to do it to the next generation of shipdrivers.

My eval hack-- I always cut and paste the writeup into word (granted, usually not mid-writing it.) You can't cut and paste it BACK into NavFit (the Navy's abysmal eval writing system), but at least you know what words to re-type back in.

Doesn't let you paste? That's also a ridiculously simple fix.

Is this a Major complaining about having to rewrite something? I call this justice because God knows how many years of my life I have wasted because some Major has asked me to rewrite something because they wanted a change in format because they had a good idea.

Sympathy granted: Zero

However I am sure some Major will demand I resubmit this post to read as follows;

Sympathy granted: 0.00%

And then there will be some Major who will demand I convert 0.00% to a NATO format unbeknownst to everyone but some poor Major who has not seen the light of day for three years because he was locked away in basement in Belgium.

+25 troll points, SFC Anonymous, but you'll be required to resubmit this in Arial 12 before being awarded those points, and use AR25-50 to format your memo, dammit.

In truth, SFC Anonymous, your cited scenario happens at all levels. Your squad and team leaders likely had the same complaints when you made them redo something they saw no point in, as do I when an O-6 tells me to change the word "happy" to "glad" in a memo for a general. It's a side-effect of bureaucracy.

However, I'm not asking for sympathy or complaining - I'm actually suggesting to HRC that they fix things for everyone in the Army. They could actually save any soldier that rates any other soldier time. That's why I tagged HRC in comments field. Hopefully someone there will see it and write the requirement to fix it into their next software revision.

LTC (Join to see) - At least your sense of humor is intact. However Arial 12? Really? It is all about Franklin Gothic Book 12 now!!!
