Why would a 1SG order the CQ to collect laundry from the laundry room in the barracks?

This is the situation: Soldiers is washing clothes in the barracks take 27 min for a washer and at least 1 hour to dry. The company 1SG order the CQ to check the laundry room every hour on the hour and if they find unattended laundry no matter if the machine is moving or not that CQ get a trash bag bag all the clothes mark the bag and deliver the bag to the 1SG office so the soldier have to see 1SG to get the clothes back. Can somebody explain me what kind of attitude is that? What if the soldier have to use the restroom? The CQ will grab the wet clothes tag and bag? What if the soldier leave money on the clothes and that money isn't there when he pick his clothes up? Who will be responsible if clothes get damage?

What were the mitigating factors for the 1SG making this change?
Were clothes/personal items coming up missing? Were things being vandalized?

What's the 'whole' story?

I can't say what is in a 1SGs mind for having CQ do that. Maybe there is a lot of theft going on in the barracks and he is looking out for his/her Soldiers. There could be a few things behind it. If there was more information as to why he would do that then I could answer more. First question I have is what caused him to give that CQ that order?

I think it's a matter of courtesy to other people who need to use the machines. I HATED when I was waiting to use the washer and driers and people didn't care about their belongings enough to stay with it so that when the machines finished, they could take their clothes out immediately so someone else could use it. If the bathroom or smoke break is that important, ask a buddy to watch your things for you and take care of them if they finish before you return, otherwise, have enough courtesy for the other folks to be there when the buzzer goes off so you can remove your items so they dont have to wait or "be rude" and remove your items for you.

I'm agree with you, if you going for smoke break or maybe to pick thou phone at your room there no reason to take the clothes out, but if the clothes has been there for more than 30 yes take them out

I used to be in a unit where the CQ sat in the soldier support center, and you had to sign in and out of the laundry room with the CQ. The CQ had to clear the washer/dryer you were using to ensure you cleaned up after yourself as well.

I find it hard to believe that the 1SG would order for someone to stop the washer and/or dryer and take it out on a bag.
Now if the machines are done and no one is picking the clothes up, that is a different story, especially if the facilities are limited and other people want or need to use them
