We all know Putin's MO on the world stage by now. But what should America do in the likely event that Russia invades Ukraine? Will Biden truly commit to a shooting war with Russia, or will he fall back on a Sanctions only approach to the issue?

Personally, I feel we have been patient enough w/Putin. Why shouldn't we be ready in case we're needed. I know Russia has the saying "Ruled w/a Iron fist" but remember, Iron will bend when met w/enough force..
I hope it won't come to us sending in Troops, but in the same turn Putin needs to know he won't be able to continue acting like a little child who doesn't get his way

I do see more military focus in Europe and maybe even Fulda gap talk.

Sir, I have to point out that it's 1400 miles from Fulda to the Russian Federation. That isn't the same has having the Soviet Block a couple dozen miles away in Thuringia. I think that the Europeans will virtue signal and maybe pass some sanctions, ones that they will ignore since they get so much of their fuel from the Russian Federation.
To be realistic, the fall of the Soviet Union turned the Ukraine into a failed nation that has lost almost 20% of its population and scores a monumental 33 on the corruption scale. The good news is that they still beat Mexico.

CPT Lawrence Cable my comment is meant to imply that we may change our war games to look much more like cold war ones. Not that Ukraine will trigger a major theater war in the short term.

LTC (Join to see) - Aren't they already doing that in Poland? IMO, NATO is a failing alliance since real military power is the US and Britain. The Threat is far enough away for Western Europe that they won't do anything serious. The German Army wasn't much more than a Joke when I was there after Desert Storm and my friends coming back say it's worse today. It's one thing to throw your weight around against some second world power in the Balkans, behind US Military strength, but it's a bit different when the opponent is actually another nuclear power.

It’s unlikely we will commit to any offensive action unless Russia begins moving towards Kyiv

It’s honestly appalling what has transpired. We went from “we will defend our Allie’s against Russia’s aggression” to “sanctions will deter them” to “sanctions won’t stop them”CPT (Join to see)

I think CNN, CBS, NBC, etc should run story with a shirtless Biden on top of a donkey stating how strong & forceful he has been in response against Putin’s invasion of Ukraine!

I believe that since, we as a NATO member, should rely on NATO to protect its members.
The U.S. can’t financially afford to fund any direct actions against Russia. Our current top impotent military leadership is also not qualified to run such actions!

Typical comment considering the republicans tried to overthrow the US government along with trump and his crew of inept congressmen. When was the last time a republican president either decreased the deficit or added jobs or created hope for any American except the wealthy or the white supremist, even the uneducated people don’t know their lives aren’t better. Before you wreck your brain, it was Roosevelt. Otherwise democrats that follow republicans have to clean up the mess they make and re establish Allies and other countries relationships with us, reduce deficit and create opportunities for those other than people tearing the system apart and creating division. Read something credible.

Hey, Arch, Roosevelt was a DEMOCRAT. In case you were sleeping for 4 years, the economy was booming under President Trump. We were energy independent, exporting energy, and gas was $2.00 / gal. Under Sleepy joe, gas just hit $5.00 / gal. You need to stop watching CNN.

Sadly, we are being "slow walked" to armed conflict. Since the Afghan "pull out" it well be no surprise if the trigger is pulled.
