This is a strange question I'm sure, but my AIT will be taking place at the SWCS at Fort Bragg, I have several friends in the 82nd Airborne Division, and if possible I'd like to be able to hang out with them on days we aren't doing anything. Obviously I understand my freedoms will be limited until the later weeks of AIT. But will this be allowed later on? Does training at SWCS restrict where you can go on Fort Bragg at all?

Permanent party and AIT Students are not allowed to interact/hang out with one another. After you graduate AIT you will no longer be considered a recruit, you’ll be a MOS qualified Soldier.

I used to teach at the CA AIT at Ft. Bragg after I got back from Iraq. The cadre kept them busy and limited their free time. The reason is that the CA and MISO mos(s) were some of the most deployed their were. Don’t worry about your off time just yet, learn how to soldier and what your job is. When I taught there, all the instructors and DIs were combat vets. We tried to Impart our knowledge so that they would cone out of an Iraq or Afghanistan tour alive.

Since it's not on a TRADOC installation, and your buddies aren't cadre, this is a unique scenario. Contact the training unit, or wait until you arrive and your DS/cadre will provide you the most current information. From their webpage:
Tier 0 (Weeks 0-2): Use of company area facilities; dining facility; religious services; cell phones on Wednesday nights and weekends; personal electronics (limited, only on weekends); passes to visit the Fort Bragg Mini-Mall (limited, only on Sundays); weekend on-post pass (only garrison facilities). Must wear ACUs. No alcohol. No rental vehicles. No personal vehicles.

Tier 1 (Weeks 2-3): Use of company area facilities; dining facility; religious services; cell phones during non-duty hours; personal electronics during non-duty hours; limited weekday passes to the Fort Bragg Mini-Mall; weekend on-post passes for garrison facilities. Must wear ACUs. No alcohol. No rental vehicles. No personal vehicles.

Tier 2 (Weeks 4-10): Use of company area facilities; dining facility; religious services; cell phones during non-duty hours; personal electronics during non-duty hours; weekday on-post passes to garrison facilities. Civilian clothes authorized, but limited to off-duty weekdays and weekends. Mandatory sign-in and sign-out with duty-NCO or CQ. Mandatory weekend recall accountability formation Sundays at 8 p.m. No alcohol. No rental vehicles. No personal vehicles.
