I’ve been having problems with my teeth for the last 3 weeks. Terrible sleep, struggling to eat or drink, taking lots of pain meds. This is the 3rd time this has happened in the last year and nothing has been done to fix it. I go on the 5th to get X-rays, from there they’ll refer me off base to get an operation. BUT, my brigade is slotted to leave to ntc on the 6th. What’s the chance Dental brushes me off again and they just tell me to deal with it and my unit makes me go to ntc in this condition? What can I do to ensure I got proper treatment and don’t get neglected care AGAIN?

Seriously in as nice a way you can first tell the front desk you’re still having problems and been seen twice already Tell the tech increasing the severity. Then when the dentist sees you make it rain. Seriously let them know you’re in severe pain And you’ve been suffering since the last time

COL (Join to see) That worked for me. Similar situation but I only waited for the second time. PFC Wesley Willyard The teeth are next to the brain. - That's a bad place for an infection.

Amen SFC Ralph E Kelley. It really bothers me how some mil Med folk deny SMs care like it’s saving their money. Forgetting the prolonged suffering costs more.

You can ask your command whether you're going. Anything anyone says here is a Wild Ass Guess, your Brigade Commander has ultimate authority over who goes and who doesn't, and they will publish a memo with guidelines saying who goes and who stays.

Spoiler: everyone goes who is not physically capable of going or has an approved separation date with an ETS during NTC

This is strange. They didn't take x-rays the first time you experienced this issue? Why are you going to NTC while on "pain meds"? As the SFC states talk with your Brigade Commander. Is this a case of NTC-itis to go along with you dental issues?

PFC (Verify To See) Best of luck. Hopefully you'll get a good oral surgeon.

PFC Wesley Willyard - There are procedures but many times the techs don't know your case because they aren't allowed to access your dental records.

SFC Ralph E Kelley - The PFC has a documented issue. Why is the PFC seeing a "tech"? Of course issue #2 is why are "techs" not allowed to review records? Aren't they "medical professionals"? HIPAA is not the problem with the "techs"; stupidity is. That is like a doctor telling a nurse what to do, the nurse does it but can't put the procedure in the records because they don't have access.

SMSgt Bob W. - No argument here but I have seen nurses and ER Techs that were not allowed to access records because they could not help themselves from discussing the cases with outside people. They're known as gossips. It does happen and yes in all cases it stupid. Either train them to not do so or remove them.
