Will the National Guard really turn on citizens in Virginia because they are defending their 2A rights, or will they honor their oath?

You're reading the headlines and not the story. Some idiot congressman suggested the Governor "should" activate the NG to enforce state law. The Governor himself said he absolutely would not do that and immediately dismissed the suggestion.
This is like one kid running up to their parents and saying, "Johnny said he's not going to do his chores - you should beat him". And the parents saying, "Get out of here, we're the parents, we'll decide how to handle this".

I don't think that the VA Guard will obey this unlawful order. They are not to be used as a police force within the borders of the US under normal circumstances (ie no national disaster situation)

1: the bonehead that suggested NG as an option has zero authority to make it so
2: the govener has made no such threats
3: If they are stood up for policing actions and a duly enacted law is on the books ordering the police (and NG) tI enforce the law is not an unlawful order.
Later constitutional challenges that might overturn the law is a sepreapret issue
And yes of course Virginia leaders should delay all policing actions until the challenges have taken place and adjutcated
