If the situation in Syria wasn't already complex enough Iraq announced on 9/27/15 it will begin sharing "security and intelligence" information with Russia, Syria and Iran to help combat the advances of ISIS. Additionally with the confirmation that U.S.backed Syrian rebels (New Syrian Forces) surrendered American arms to al Nusra (an Al Qaeda offshoot) the Pentagon responded with "We can’t control every situation that these fighters encounter". While both groups are fighting Assad It appears evident that the current strategy in place in dealing with Assad and ISIS has come to a crux. With Russia ready to launch air strikes on rebel forces in Syria has this deal undermined our efforts in Syria or do we stand our ground like we did in Afghanistan when the Russians invaded and continue the resistance effort?

Yes it does and it shows that Putin knows what he is doing. He knows its going to take ground troops to get rid of ISIL, He also is positioning Russia to have a large influence over matters in the Middle East which does not bode well for the US relations with these countries. We need to get back in game or we are going lose more than influence in the Middle East.

If I was the leader of any of those countries I would be courting Russia. The US has long proven that it can't be trusted. We have a long history of bailing out and leaving our allies to die.

Yes this sounds like the beginnings of a Middle East Warsaw Pact. Putin once again plays Obama like a fiddle. He used ISIS, a result of failed US foreign policy, as a foot in the door in the region.

Our lack of commitment has already done that.
