So, RP members, where is the worse place the military has made you live, and why? I am not talking about combat environments, I am talking about garrison, be it barracks, housing, or temporary lodging? If you have pictures, feel free to post.

None of my permanent stations have been terrible, some have had better housing than others with varying degrees of maintenance, but living in tents during TDYs in multiple locations must have been the worse!

Concur. Although the first few days in certain tropical country in the summer of 1983 was a feeding ground for those wings with teeth. I slept in the back of a closed crackerbox style ambulance. Once we got into SEAHUTS and mosquito netting, the next few months were tolerable. TLA locations overseas are not always the best way to spend a month or so looking for housing when there are few to be had.

Only 2 good places in the Army, the place you just left, and the place you are going to, Old School

1995.......Senior Enlisted Barracks, Fort Drum, NY. Old WW2 wooden buildings, small rooms, no A/C, poor heating, 1 latrine, small community kitchen..................worst place in my 23 years.

Yes Sir, there are only 2 good places in the Army. The place you just left, and the place you are going to. Thats what I always said.

I would say for living on base Hunter AAF has to be one of the worst. They still house Soldiers in Vietnam era housing and same with barracks when I was there which was condemned due to serious black mold. They are building new barracks but the family housing is a joke.

I was at HAAF 04-08 and they built some nice housing out by the golf course. They also improved on the barracks while I was there. At least the aviation barracks improved.

SGT (Join to see) When I was TNARNG, we spent several summers at Camp Shelby. Have to agree with you on that one.
