Would a dep action request let me leave sooner for Navy boot camp? If so, how does it work?

My navy recruiter sent in a dep action request he says this would help me ship to navy bootcamp sooner my current ship date is 6 months out . Would this let me leave sooner or how does it work

Your recruiter told you that this request would allow you to leave for boot camp sooner that your original ship date, so there is your answer. Your recruiter is there to answer your questions, so if you had questions, why did you not ask them? If you are not sure of something, you better call your recruiter asap and ask for clarification. The only answers that matter are from your recruiter.
Enlisting in the military is a big step. Make a list of all your questions, and make sure that your recruiter answers all of your questions so that you fully understand what is happening.

My navy recruiter said he can ship me out to Boot Camp sooner than my ship date which is six months away by replacing somebody is this accurate ? He said this happens a lot
