Would I be eligible for my second ARCAM, my first AGCM, or would my reenlistment to active duty start my time over for an AGCM?

I served 5.5 in the Guard and received an ARCAM for the first 3 years. I have been active duty now for 1 year with no break in service, giving me 6.5 years. Would I be eligible for my second ARCAM, my first AGCM, or would my reenlistment to active duty start my time over for an AGCM? I've read AR 600-8-22, but I'm struggling to understand all of the details regarding each award in reference to my specific situation.

You only get one ARCAM for your three years in service, the 2.5 years gets you nothing unfortunately. Your AGCM clock starts the day you went on active duty and you need to complete three years to get one or be released from active duty honorably with 12 months or more on active duty. So basically you get nothing for two more years when you'll get your first good conduct medal, unless you revert to the reserves then you'll get a GCM and start your ARCAM time over again.

Are you AGR?
You are not yet eligible for the AGCM, you would have to spend the full time required for the first award on active duty (AGR) to be eligible.
At least when I was an AGR, you could choose to not receive AGCMs and continue with the ARCAMs, but doing so was selecting a track, you could not do one award for three years then do another for the next three.

No, I am not AGR. I completed switched from NG to RA. Regardless, it sounds like you're saying my time towards the award starts over, and my final 2.5 years in the Guard do not count for anything, correct?

Yes, exactly. The ARCAM is Army Reserve Components Achievement Medal, you won't see another one unless you go back to the Guard or Reserves.
Reserve time doesn't count towards the AGCM, you start over.

Any time, glad to help (I still know far more about the Army questions than the Air Force ones!).
