He should be ok. He may just get extra scrutiny because of it. Best thing he can do is find somebody with an extra pair and borrow it during the shake out.
By the way, is this for your partner or is this a spouse posting under his name?

SFC (Join to see) - you may want to check with the admin about deleting this thread. Or at least maybe you can edit it and just put "deleted" in the question. The reason I say that is that if I were a hard charging soldier starting SFAS, I probably wouldn't want a thread under my name announcing to the world on a professional military networking site that my "husband" forgot his silk underwear for SFAS, or my wife announcing it to the world. Just sayin'. ;). Sometimes it's better to leave the name off. LTC Yinon Weiss

Here's a packing list from the special ops recruiting battalion website. There's a mandadory section and an optional section. I don't see silk underwear anywhere. If he means the polypro cold weather, it's required and the heading of the list says clearly you'll be dropped if you show up without a required item. But under optional they list coolmax or underarmor shirts, so if that's what he's talking about, he should be fine.
SFAS isn't a school per se. It's a weeding out process, and they have no concerns of maintaining a certain graduation rate. showing up without a required item on the packing list because you forgot isn't a way to show that you've got what it takes to thrive operating independently under stress. I would very much expect them to send someone home who made that error.
