If A Person with a military History, A person that did not grow up with privilege and prosperity. Worked up through the ranks and still puts His men before himself was to run for president. Would They be elected by today's american people. Or would the people choose the person that looked good in a suit and spoke with eloquent words?

The last President that appeared to look like what you described was Truman. I think that it is not possible in today's society where special interest and money are the dominant factor in getting elected. Although I'd vote for a true honest broker.

Don't forget Ike, Lt Col Timothy Parker, DBA. He didn't come from privilege at all.

SSgt (Join to see) Beat me to it. He grew up not far from where I'm sitting right now. Went to his house as a kid in grade-school.

Point taken, although he was college educated (West Point) and was in the right place at the right time when he essentially wrote the war plans for what turned out to be WWII as I recall (from reading it, not being there).

I am going to throw my hat in, I have served both as enlisted and officer and came up the ranks, and feel that my mild TBI and the residual effects qualifies me to be a politician. Just do not expect me to remember things or to use smart phones cause I keep forgetting how the work.
