Would you advise a soldier to reclass to a 35G or 35T? Why?

Tango probably transfers better into a civilian career. Golf does as well, but not as well. Tango schooling is longer and more challenging, generally. You get clearances with either/or. As a Tango in the course you also have the opportunity to get a Sec Certification that's highly sought after as a civilian. It comes down to what you would enjoy more. As a golf you're analyzing imagery. It's fun. As a Tango, you're the go-to tec guy who fixes stuff. You're the unicorn of the Army.

Personally, I'm biased, so I would recommend 35G, but I would say that going 35G is a good way to go, because if you end up getting out and want to work for DOD or an intelligence contractor, there are some pretty good jobs on the civilian side that you can pretty much slide right into after you get out.

Well honestly these jobs are on two different ends of the spectrum as far as what they do. I am a 35G I was in a unit of all 35T before and believe me they are nothing alike so the question is what would you enjoy doing? If you are into computers and tinkering with that sort of thing then be a 35T if that’s not what you like then don’t sign up for something for quick money and years of being unhappy with your choice. Happy soldiers are a true asset to the Army.

I’m curious as to what is the better job inside and out of the army. I am interested in both, but i heard promotion is slow as a 35T and promotion is easier as a 35G

Well 35T tend to have quick transitions to the contractor side it’s a lot of money if you are willing to deploy 35G have more GS positions so it’s more stable money both are still going to depend on your skill level when you leave. I watched a 35T think he had been guaranteed over $100k only to find out he wasn’t at the skill level they thought and o LT make $60k

Look -re-class is not easy, but doable. 1. Research the MOS's that interest you. 2. Check their career path- does it go to the top, of dies mid stream, or require a MOS switch to reach the higher NCO levels. 3. Check and see whether the MOS is critical/short or over strength. 4. Check to see where this MOS is normally stationed at and at what level unit. Now with all these factors, decide what you qual for and what you want.

Hi Melissa, that's a good question. I would recommend however considering a more IT related reclass, 25B or 25D. The market in the civilian world is strong for those types of skill sets.

25B is not letting SPC in and 25D has special requirements in which i do not qualify for TIS.

35T has more options on the civilian side. You also tend not to need a degree for a good deal of those jobs. Just IT certifications, one of which you'll take in AIT.
