Would you be willing to accept a 10% reduction in pay and benefits to maintain the current DoD end strength?

I would with 2 caveats.
1. Every single Congressman and Senator also take a 15% pay cut.
2. Every single Congressman and Senator pass legislation for term limits for all of their positions. 8 yrs is fair to me.
See how far that goes.

SFC (Join to see), I like your thinking. My refinement would be a Constitutional Amendment limiting total time in Congress (either house or a combination of the two) to twelve years, allowing for two Senate terms.

Kudos SFC Springman! I second that!!!!!! We as active duty military have answered our nation's call. They need to stop trying to take away from us and maybe take a cut themselves.

Not a chance.
Anyone that says that we can't find enough money in a trillion dollar defense budget to pay for the national defense without cutting pay is either a poor accountant or a liar.
It is all about an agenda, no more, no less.

SGT (Join to see) - any pay cuts are a drop in the bucket for the federal budget. A Congressional Pay cut would be symbolic, but negligible in impact. We need to stop buying crap we don't need, prioritize social safety net programs to those who need them, get the federal government out of the business of parochial concerns like bike trails, and get down to the business of setting conditions for prosperity and protecting the citizens of the United States. We squander billions on very questionable programs. Revenue is not the problem. Spending more than you take in on stupid things and special interest concerns is the real problem.

No...Soldiers give enough! Time for our lawmakers to figure things out before the next 9/11-type attack occurs.
However, I do feel the updated retirement plan will assist with the Defense Department's budget woes.
