There's a FB group titled "Linux Screenshots" and we simply post screenshots of our computer desktop and specs. It's random, but some shots make you wonder how comfortable you'd be in a different desktop environment - XFCE, Cinnamon, GNOME, KDE, etc. Sometimes you learn new programs. Would you like to share yours? That includes Windows, MAC, Phones, and the guy that's going to post a picture of his home or work desk area.

My screenshot is Linux Zorin 9 - 32 bit, htop for system monitor on the left, and screenfetch for specs on the right.

Is no one going to point out the fact that there just HAPPENS to be a picture of him working out right in the middle?

Completely irrelevant. This thread has come to be about my request for cool screenshots by people who may slip and share the wrong info.

Although mine does not. :)

I thank you for being the first.

Some of that information I would not be comfortable sharing, my MAC and phone for example, I do not let out of my own network much less will I post them. And telling strangers all of the programs you're running makes you an easier target. Now I know what exploits are most likely to let me into your system.

Hardware stats and is version I would gladly sharen

If you see my picture as an example, you see little of that information provided. Furthermore, firewall and A/V settings, VMware, and customization also play a big part in security concerns.

Sharing a screen shot of a desktop with specs does not seem like a great idea SGT (Join to see). Screen shot of desktop without specs could be okay though :-)
My desktop operating system is Windows 7 Ultimate. I hate being on the bleeding edge of technology - did it too may times for work :-)

Now that you mention it, it can be pretty risky if someone doesn't hide the right information. I don't sweat it because I'm a distro hopper.

I prefer the tried and true as well, sir. My newest technology, excluding software, is a three year old SSD. It's hanging in there, though.
