The retirees, VA , and SSDI received a big ZERO PAY RAISE FOR 2016. The projected inflation rate for 2016 is 1.6%. Read below to peer into the methodology they use to justify a 0.0% pay raise.

The 2016 cost of living adjustment (COLA) for federal benefits will be zero for 2016. This is because the index used to determine military retirement, Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) disability payments, and social security shows that there has been no overall inflation since last September. The dramatic decrease in the cost of gasoline has cancelled out all the other price increases, leaving a net negative Consumer Price Index for Urban Wage Earners and Clerical Workers (CPI-W). This is the third time of no increase since increases were made automatic in 1975. Federal payments are received by about 80 million US residents each year, including retired and disabled workers and their families, disabled veterans, and federal retirees.

The short version of what I’ve just said: no increase in military retirement, VA disability, or social security in 2016.

The government always uses fuzzy math! My homeowners dues, storage lockers dues, property taxes, and MEDICARE, and TRICARE (fortunately not TRICARE FIR LIFE--YET) all goes up. Yet no increase in my military pension. Gas may have gone down a bit, but EVERYTHING else is up-and far more than the inflation rate. I don't get it!

And gas prices change. Using one metric is poor business.

Smh. But these politicians quick to say "thank you for your service" "I support and love the troops" they just dont want us to get paid accordingly while they never take a pay decrease

Yet the POTUS wants to do an 18% increase in the Presidential pension?
The outgoing leaders in government should get a 90 day severance at 35% of their pay. No more life long pensions for the ones who are supposedly represent the people.
