What it was about for me
What future does a 17 year old high school drop out have? That was the question I asked myself many times. My answer was simple: None. So I looked for a path I could take to succeed. I found one I hoped would work - enlist in the military.
I chose the Air Force because it appeared to have jobs that would transition back to civilian life.
To make a long story short. Once in, I did my best in every assignment; I took and passed the GED; I went to night school to improve my education credentials; I went from a high school drop out to a college graduate.
The rest of the story. The best part was that this self improvement brought promotions. After 15 years I was on the Senior Master Sergeant selection list; never made it, instead I ended up in Officers Training School and earned a commission.
This is what the Air Force was about for me.

Advice on how to transfer to this branch of service
I don't know the "how" but I can tell you the "Why." The Air Force will give you 100% support in self improvement.
