I am prior service Army (released from active in May 2020) and have recently been giving serious consideration to reenlisting but this time with the Air National Gaurd. My original plan was to try for the TACP but I became impatient and went into the Army infantry instead. With that, on to the questions:

1. Since I have been out of the game and I'm also wanting to switch branches, would I need to attend BMT?

2. Since I want to join the ANG instead of active, would I get my choice of station as long as that base needs my career and I live or am willing to move to the general vicinity?

3. This question is specifically directed toward current or prior TACPs: What is your personal take on the pipeline? What do candidates struggle with most? High and low points? Any input is welcome.

1) No unless it’s the Marines
2) You can join any unit provided they have an opening in your AFC or you go and reclass. You don’t have to live in the area but be able to attend drill.
3) N/A
