I've been currentlly reading AR 614-10 and been going over the MPEP Concept section (Para 1-6):

"a. The Army’s MPEP operates typically as a one-for-one exchange of personnel. The ranks and/or grades of the
exchange personnel will be essentially equal and as agreed upon by the participating countries. Exchange personnel are
assigned on a PCS to duty positions within authorized manpower requirements. Each position has a corresponding
position within the PN host military service. Corresponding positions may vary as dictated by differences in organizational
structure, weapon systems equipment, tactics, and personnel systems, as mutually agreed. Exchange personnel
are given meaningful and responsible assignments commensurate with their grade and qualifications and are integrated into the sponsoring organization as though they belong to the military Service to which they are assigned, consistent with applicable security disclosure authorizations.

b. Personnel exchange tours may vary from 12 to 36 months (24 months is normal), within a given country,
depending upon the parameters established in the negotiated position description. Current tour lengths are annotated on
the DA Form 872 (Requisition for Individual Officer Personnel)."

<--> Back to my question: how can you sign up for something like this or even be considered for it, is this type of program only permitted for active duty Army personal or can the Army Reserve/Guard components apply as well, and lastly are there any other programs such as this one in the Army?

Respectfully,

Good luck is all o have to say. I had two buddies I was stationed with while In Korea. Basically mirror images of each other on paper. Both marrried, same mos, tank, ‘tis/tig and what not. One lived in Phoenix, ax and the other Augusta, ga. Ax got orders for ft Gordon, ga and Augusta got orders for fort huahca (spelling). They asked if they could switch assignments even noting that it would save the army money, and the army said no. No reason given. But again, good luck.

I was nominated as a MPEP in England. I served as a British (RIG) at the Armored Gunnery school in Dorset. It was a 24 month tour with my family. I spent a year in school and another year instructing British combat arms soldiers. Cool assignment and the family loved it.
