It is amazing to see what a human being is capable of doing despite terrible odds against him. The battle for survival when the body won't obey is the warrior spirit wresting the control pain has over him and ~willing~ his mind to overpower it. He may be in a wheelchair, but the sheer strength of will on display is superhuman.

What an example of the strength of a man.

Thank you for reminding me of what we're capable of being

You can always do more. Men like Al remind me of that. Glad he shared his story with me.

SSgt Tanner Iskra Oh, my brother, no. That's not always the case. I found out personally that no matter my attitude, Multiple Sclerosis made the rules. Waking up paralyzed without an injury is a whole different kind of battle. Suddenly losing the ability to understand English, speaking only German when I hadn't used the language in decades? How does one fight that? I do what I can to keep the MonSter asleep, but sometimes I do it all right and still get life-changing symptoms.

Hearing his story and the stories of others overcoming the ocean of reasons to fail inspires me, even if I can't do what they have done.

Working to the best of my ability, I have found that a relentless pursuit of my goals is what makes the difference, but, Lord, sometimes I gotta take a knee, no matter how hard I want to push my body to submit to my will
