What do you believe to be the best and most effective strategy to get corporate money out of politics? I look forward to a time when our legislative branch can focus on legislating instead of constantly raising money, and where corporations are unable to spend any more money on political campaigns than a private person. Can we even get there from here?

Can you tell me if there is any real plan to fix the VA? I know billions have been thrown at it, but it continues to fail.

You can't just throw money at everything to fix it. Good question though

Please. This a serious forum for serious problems. It is not, I thought, a place to pimp your new book coming out. The inclusion of the "grab a copy here" link is unacceptable, very telling of the Gentleman from Kentucky's motivations to appear on Rally Point at this time. This is offensive and humiliating to Veterans.

One thing I am old enough for, Gomez, is not responding to baiting.

True that. It's like has-been movie "stars" that you haven't seen for years. Then they show up on all the talk shows to sell their new books !

SFC Rich Gomez - Why SFC Gomez, if you actually look at LCDR Harding Harrison's profile you will see that he only served 8 years, not long enough to retire. Plus if you do a bit of calculating, you will figure out that he is NOT old enough to be receiving Medicare. You do know what ASSuming does right?
I think you owe him an apology.

And for the record, LCDR Harding Harrison's situation is one I have seen way too many times in the veteran community where I advocate for fellow veterans. What do you do to help your brothers and sisters, SFC Rich Gomez?

Senator,

In 1993 you voted for NAFTA and from 2004-2011 Kentucky lost over 67,000 jobs. In 2000 you voted for most favored nation for China. From 2001 to 2011 Kentucky lost another 37,000 jobs.

Are you a nationalist Sir, or a CFR North American Unionist?

Why can't the Senate draft a stand alone version of Kate's Law to protect citizens from violent illegal felons who come back into this country after they are deported the first time?

We fought to protect America, why can't the GOP Senate fight for the safety of US Citizens.

Don't add it to a Sanctuary City bill that you know will be defeated. Make Senators take a stand!

When is Congress going to pass term limits for both the House and Senate?

Mitch McConnell - There are increasing numbers of reports of outrageous sexual assaults on base / in quarters / in sequestered areas of ships / etc -- by senior / supervisory members against junior and less experienced members of our armed forces -- far more so today than during my service in Vietnam. We were generally protected like sisters by our brothers in arms who made it clear to any potential miscreant they would be severely disciplined for misbehavior. The current SHARP program appears to speak the words but has no teeth in a world where men frequently get away with raping their junior personnel in the military -- and anyone who complains is ostracized and excommunicated. What can you do with the Senate and the House to end sexual assault in the US military community? Warmest Regards, Sandy

Why does anyone in Congress deserve a pension paid for by tax payers? Why does Congress not abide by the same laws that it enacted that the rest of us are supposed to abide by? Why does Congress keep whittling away the medical benefits that my father and other military retirees were promised for life? Why does Congress think it is ethical to give themselves their own separate health plan paid for by the tax payers?

Senator McConnell why are you forcing servicemembers who have to live off post to pay more out of pocket for housing?

SSG (Join to see) - BAH was already cut by one percent this year, SSG. BAH went from paying 100% of average rent/utilities/renters insurance to paying 99% of rent and utilities. The goal is to get it down to 95% of rent and utilities. Some of us are stationed in areas where we don't have on-post or government housing available to us, and these cuts hurt us greatly. Maybe with all the money the feds are saving from the drawdown and sequestration, they could not reduce our benefits even further? First the retirement was cut for new recruits, and now we are expected to pay more for housing. It isn't right.

The real slap in the face is the politicians who propose and then vote for these cuts are the same ones who are ready to put our troops in harms way in a heart beat. Then they hold up their right hand and say they are very pro military.
