*Senator Cruz will be joining us for a live Q&A on Friday, 2/26 at 1:00pm EST. Post your questions below in advance of the Q&A. Questions with the most up votes will be answered first. Please be upfront and to the point with your questions. RP Staff will be monitoring this discussion.*
From Senator Ted Cruz:
America now faces a momentous decision. Almost a decade of irresponsible defense cuts has slashed the number of combat personnel, seriously degraded their combat readiness, and shrunk the size of our military below any reasonable standard. If America continues to lead from behind, we will lose the ability to guarantee our safety at home and abroad.
Our all-volunteer force deserves better. They deserve a leader who will provide them with the finest weapons systems and the best training. They deserve the full and unapologetic support of their Commander-in-Chief, not a minimal commitment and overly restrictive Rules of Engagement.
Furthermore, Americans make up the finest military professionals and veterans in the world, and they deserve an investment in their careers, their health, and their families. We must honor of our military members, families, and veterans by ensuring they receive the respect and care they have earned.
Under focused, new leadership, America can, and will, rebuild our military and take care of our veterans.

After 25 years in the military (spread over 33 years) I am convinced that we promote the best leaders in America to lead our five armed services. How will you consider their advice and do you believe what I write in the previous sentence considering our most senior officers and senior enlisted?

I think that the OIF/OEF was more complicated than what he explains in the book. I won't express my opinion in this forum, but there is no one-sided story that will give us the full story.

Sequestration has been one of the most destructive of self inflicted wounds that Congress and the President could have self inflicted on our Nation. Congress and the President do a lot of talk about repealing it but ultimately do nothing. What is your plan if elected to repeal sequestration?

Senator Cruz: on the topic of a Convention of States:
(a) do you support the general idea,
(b) why, exactly, and
(c) what kind of timeframe is reasonable for getting there without undue risk of hijacking?

Senator Cruz: I have been a supporter since I saw you campaigning in Texas for the Senate. You have the values we need for the White House in trying times. QUESTION: Without violating conservative principles, how will you broaden your message and campaign to draw in the blue collar Democrat vote? Neither Democrat candidate is really reaching out. Donald Trump's success has been that his message "crosses the isle". The current primary has been overly vicious with all candidates lashing out against their perceived opponents. In reality, the true opponent will be the Democratic candidate. Your campaign MUST be looking beyond the primaries NOW for it to relate and touch the extra voters needed for a win in November. From a military view, this becomes a matter of balancing tactically versus strategically. The winner will be the one who is successful in doing this.

What are your thoughts on legalizing marijuana or at least make it federally medically legal for not currently serving military personnel.

As a Christian I am trying to support you, but the incident with Dr Carson and the incident with Trump's wife are making it very difficult. I know Super PACs are not controlled by candidates but I cannot imagine they would go forward without a wink and a nod from you. I highly suggest you publicly chastise those who are causing many of us to have our doubts about the authenticity of your christian standards.

One who declares himself a christian is expected to conduct themselves worthy of the Gospel of Christ. Those who do not know Christ are not expected to emulate him. Though we all fail. It hurts the body of Christ when Christians fail. The higher the visibility the more damage. It is similar to increase in military rank. As a Major you may not survive doing the things you may have gotten away with as a LT, because your errors are more visible.

I have looked at everything people has offered as evidence. Normally, when I look at it, it is not even what they think they are sending. Most people are using other people's opinion to support their opinion...Katyal and Clement or now Mark Levin. For some reason, the uninformed seem to think that by calling people 'birthers' they are strengthening their argument, but the name calling only show their lack of understanding and their maturity level.
SO, from your last statement, you are fine with anyone acting against the Constitution...and limiting a person's ability to assemble, to practice the religion of choice, ETC until such laws are actual brought to to the Supreme Court? I guess you have shown your respect for the Constitution? I will continued to defend the Constitution in the little ways I can.
The way I have read the best information available, a person born in the United States of America to parents legally residing in the United States, is natural born citizen. The same would be true for Canada, Mexico or any other nation.
A person, under our laws, can have dual citizenship at birth BUT it is not about citizenship and never was.
A person can only be natural born under the authority of one nation. MCPO Roger Collins tell me where I am wrong with the information above?

MSG Brad Sand - I am having trouble getting most people to understand the reason for "natural born" citizen being used for President and Vice-President as well and they bring up the same things they have with your posts. It's truly a sad state of affairs when people cannot think for themselves, forget history, and the oath they took when they joined the military.
People are too brainwashed by the boob-tube and mainstream media unfortunately. :(

MSG Brad Sand - Yes, too bad people are not as informed as you are, Your opinions are great, but, most of what I have stated comes from a variety of government sources. For example: https://fas.org/sgp/crs/misc/R42097.pdf
Yes, "Birthers" do annoy me, from both sides of the spectrum. As to the term, tough cookies, it is common vernacular and appropriate in this instance.
As to your idiotic statement about being fine with anyone acting against the Constitution, I never said that and unless you have a reading comprehension issue, you seem to be disingenuous in your interpretation of what I said. Nasty stuff for anyone that has served and retired from the US Military, to accuse a fellow veteran and retiree that devoted a good share of his life defending our nation and the Constitution.
I won't block you but I will not respond to any more of your insults.

My insults? Where did I call you a name of any type or make any insults? Maybe you misread something or your passive/aggressive attacks on other makes you hyper sensitive?
Would you answer the simple question, would a person born in the United States of America to parents legally residing in the United States, be natural born citizen? Wouldn't this be same for Canada, Mexico or any other nation?
A person cannot have two natural born or dual natural born status...correct? Or is this an idiotic statement too?

I have to say I am disappointed by this whole exercise. There were many, many thoughtful and debated questions posed; however, by my count, only 6 questions were answered, most were links to campaign materials and at least 1 was answered by 5 or 6 words.
I don't want to jump to conclusions, are there more answers to come?

He didn't bother answering my question, which was a very legitimate question that calls into contest the claim of being eligible yet a constitutional originality advocate. However, it is more apparent that we are just some punchline on a campaign trail than a group of people having any significant importance to these folks.

As a Canadian born U.S. Army Veteran I can sympathize with the rhetoric from the bigoted few.
The President is voted by the majority and should represent the entirety of America. The U.S. military is not elected and should not mirror society.
How will you as the President govern the people effectively and alternatively command Soldiers with prudence?

SFC Michael L - Thanks for joining the family of the USA military, your service and opinion is appreciated and valued. Don't know if you repatriated to Canada or not, but given some of the idiotic responses so far, I could understand if you did. However, you folks did elect a liberal to break all the gains made in past years, so who knows where is best?

MCPO Roger Collins - Thank you for messaging politely. I have no prejudices to either country nor preferences. Both are unapologetic for the choices made by the few for the benefit of the few. By the way the liberal son of a liberal Prime Minister is leading the way for a new myopic Utopia.

Senator Cruz,
Thanks you for addressing Rally Point. You will not find a larger group of patriots anywhere.
A lot has been said of our country’s population being angry at “the establishment”. The establishment is rather a generic, hold harmless phrase to me. Can you define the groups that make up the establishment? I’m not talking about the establishment’s groups that are in office (the politicians); I’m talking about the groups controlling the politicians.
