*Senator Cruz will be joining us for a live Q&A on Friday, 2/26 at 1:00pm EST. Post your questions below in advance of the Q&A. Questions with the most up votes will be answered first. Please be upfront and to the point with your questions. RP Staff will be monitoring this discussion.*
From Senator Ted Cruz:
America now faces a momentous decision. Almost a decade of irresponsible defense cuts has slashed the number of combat personnel, seriously degraded their combat readiness, and shrunk the size of our military below any reasonable standard. If America continues to lead from behind, we will lose the ability to guarantee our safety at home and abroad.
Our all-volunteer force deserves better. They deserve a leader who will provide them with the finest weapons systems and the best training. They deserve the full and unapologetic support of their Commander-in-Chief, not a minimal commitment and overly restrictive Rules of Engagement.
Furthermore, Americans make up the finest military professionals and veterans in the world, and they deserve an investment in their careers, their health, and their families. We must honor of our military members, families, and veterans by ensuring they receive the respect and care they have earned.
Under focused, new leadership, America can, and will, rebuild our military and take care of our veterans.

Our society, as diverse as it is, why focus on what seems to be the evangelical portion of our society? There is more to the United States than one group. Our current military is dwindling, and it seems like the leadership is focusing on social activism, to appease the politically correct populus, are you willing to change this? If so, how? Our public education system blows, it's not the fault of the teachers, but that if the parents and the administrators. What are you willing to do to boost the education system? Currently Dept of Education grabs on to any and every possible whacky education plan and forces it upon every teacher. The teachers are not given a say in this. Public schools no longer offer trades based education. What's your plan to change this?

Do you believe global warming is man made and if so, what do you plan to reverse it? If you don't believe it's man made, is there a reason you don't agree with unbiased science driven facts that prove global warming is man essentially destroying the planet.

MSG Brad Sand - In the past warming trends were met by humans moving with the trend which was prior to our national boundaries of today. Human behavior is only one variable that effects global warming, the question is how much.

MSG Brad Sand - In the past Native people moved from northern lands to lower lands following the warm trends, if you look at illegals you will see Native faces, so we have human history warm trends vs modern immigration laws.

While this is factually true Sir, it is the same way that human carbon emissions do play some role in the bigger question of carbon emission. Humans have always been moving before, during and after the nation states created boundaries (See are current illegal immigration debate) just as climate has always been changing. From a historical perspective, if humans were able to control the planets warming and cooling, or even able to make the smallest effect, we should do everything we could...from a historical standpoint...to support warming. We are LONG over do for the next glaciation.

MSG Brad Sand - True and since human are able to modify their behavior to decrease their effect on climate, politicians use it because history and human nature leads to more migration; The lesser of two evils.

Senator Ted Cruz, thanks for coming. A common conservative refrain is governmental overreach and Constitutional compliance. What are the three most egregious violations the Executive Branch makes of its specified powers and restrictions and how will you fix them if elected?

Senator Ted Cruz
A couple things: 1) many of the federal overreaches have been done by executive order, and the good thing about those is all of then may be undone by executive order. That is why I've pledged to rescind each and ever illegal and unconstitutional executive action taken by President Obama on my first day in office. 2) I also am a huge proponent of term limits which would go a long way to stopping the out of control expansion of the federal government.

Senator Ted Cruz Thanks for selecting my question to reply to. While I'm not sure if you or your staff team is planning on reviewing these responses again I will request clarification. It appears your answer identified a set of executive branch overreaches perpetrated by one administration, indicating you would use the power of the president to rescind each and every illegal and unconstitutional executive action taken by President Obama. Presumably this means leaving alone 1. The ones your team does not consider illegal or unconstitutional and 2. Any instituted by another administration?
Term limits may assist to rein in government expansion and over-reach but surely you and your team are not identifying incumbency itself as an egregious violation of the specified powers and restrictions on the executive branch?
So, is your team's official position that there is only one (general) category of egregious violations of the Executive Branch's specified powers and restrictions: The illegal and unconstitutional actions of President Obama?

If elected as president what would be your highest priority? Also, is there one thing that you would like to be remembered for as president?

Thank you sir for taking the time to connect with the military community. As policies relating to geopolitics can greatly impact our lives what changes would you make in our foreign policy relating to Russia, China, and the Middle East. Additionally how would you differentiate yourself in particular to Governor John Kasich.

Senator Cruz,
You have said previously that women should not be required to register for selective service because the Nation should not draft our daughters. Many women are capable of serving in the military in numerous roles, the majority of which rarely see combat. The Marine Corps considers every Marine a rifleman first and the Army's warrior tasks and battle drills are learned by all to prepare us for combat. With women now eligible to serve in combat roles, and many having already fought the enemy in direct combat during the Global War on Terror, why do you hold this position?

Senator Ted Cruz - What does the title Command-in-Chief mean to you and should civilians have more say then Commanders on the ground during armed conflict? The role of the United States president as highest ranking officer in the armed forces. The Constitution provides this power, but, through the system of checks and balances, gives Congress the authority to declare war.
